We motor sailed fast through the night
On calm seas along German Bight
To Terschelling we headed
Took turns to be bedded
Pink dawn was a wonderful sight!

When riding your bike through the sand
There’s something you should understand
When starting to fall
Don’t mind at all
It’s bound to be soft when you land

We cycled along in Terschelling
And rode by the sea which was smelling
Pushed e-bikes by hand
Through acres of sand
There was cursing but no one was yelling

In Harlingen we’re packed in quite tight
So many boats make a wonderful sight
We’re two in of four
To get onto the shore
Reversing out should be alright!

Out of Waddensee into IJsselmeer
The locks and bridges were nothing to fear
The sailing was fast
Many boats to storm past
Enkhuizen had just two bridges to clear!

Storming along from sunny Enkhuizen
Any other boats? We just whizzed round ‘em!
Through bridges and locks
Too easy! Then docked
In Amsterdam which is simply astoundin’!

Into Amsterdam to look at the view
Into Old Church, Rembrandt House too
To crew said goodbye
And we let out a sigh
We used to be four but now we are two!

Sailing La Bamba to Scheveningen
To a lovelier spot we couldn’t bring her
It’s really quite grand
With acres of sand
Such a shame that we couldn’t linger

We avoided the big ships off Rotterdam
As it’s windy we side-tracked to Stellendam
A faulty bow thruster
Had Dave in a fluster
Tomorrow we’re back on our Belgian plan!
Such fun in Dutch waters with David and Ele
joyously giving La Bamba some welly
Even adding a kite
couldn’t give more delight
why does anyone bother with telly??
Thanks for your limerick! We can never have too many! Xx
