Hanging out with Harry

Friday 22 May

David much happier afloat

The tide came in and we soon got off our little mud mound.

Needles Ahoy

We had a nice beat up to the needles with enough wind to fight the tide but once we were through the wind died off. Basically we can sail with 6 knots and over but less than that it’s a bit slow.

Past Hurst
David trying to get every last puff out of the dying wind

Once the wind died to 3 we had to put the motor on so we would make it for dinner at our favourite restaurant there – The Pig on the Beach.

Flat as a pancake

In Studland Bay we hooked a mooring buoy and tidied the boat.

Beautiful Old Harry ‘s Rocks

Not everyone is as good a hooker as me and we watched a couple approach too fast and although they hooked the buoy easily, there was too much momentum and they ended up losing the boat hook! David went gallantly to fish it out for them in Zigzags.

David saves the boat hook!

Zigzags was strapped to the coach roof on our sail here – so she was ready for gallantry!

Zigzags on the coach roof

It’s lovely here – at less than a mile off you can hear the larks singing over the cliff meadows. Super peaceful, until the jet skis turn up doing mad speeds in a very well signposted 5 knot max area.. I guess they don’t care about the special seaweed and the 3 rare types of seahorse…
