Silver Solent

May 18, Sunday

Perfect weather for a first sail

Finally our first sail of the year! We were very glad to welcome new crew to dust off the cobwebs on a beautiful shimmering Solent sail on a perfect day.

Brother and sister
Our nephew Khai and his partner Eme

David’s sister Jess came along to help with Tony, Khai and Eme.

David explaining about sheets and halyards

Very helpful crew both on the helm and off it

Tony knows where he’s going
Jess has done this before on a Contessa

Eme was definitely the bravest

I think she likes it
Fabulous view up here!

We pootled down to just beyond Newtown creek on the Isle of Wight and pootled back again. We tested the hi-fi too although I’m not sure the others were convinced that the cockpit is a great dancefloor…

Khai checks out the view from below decks

As this is the tidal Solent, it took about 3 hours there and less than one hour back.

So happy to be off the dock

Thank you Jess, Tony, Khai and Eme for making our first outing so joyful

The cool photos are from Tony
