We stayed in Torekov today because it was very rainy and windy, nothing at all to do with the numerous delicious fish restaurants round the dock…

I managed to get our washing done, David did boat stuff, Alex went for a run and did some boat exercises. We tried but are too old.

We had lunch in the other restaurant. Alex and I had catch of the day. Everything seems to come with really delicious prawns

Just before it stopped raining I went for a walk recommended by Alex from his run. I got pretty wet heading out, but the sun dried me by the time I returned.

As you entered the coast path, there is a ‘Dog Library’ for sticks!

There were sheep

And cows

When the sun came out, so did dozens of linnets with their pretty pink breasts singing their hearts out. I saw a huge heron and a curlew, and regretted forgetting my binoculars.
I found the DagsHog Alex mentioned – which means King Dag’s Hill.

Legend has it that this is the final resting place of a Viking king Dag who lost a battle here with his warriors. The more likely fact is that it’s a Bronze Age / Iron Age burial mound – it has never been excavated.

Down towards the sea are impressive flat stones looking like an old jetty. I could look down the coast where we will be sailing in light conditions tomorrow.

Just behind the sea wall was a pond full of beautiful red waterlilies

Back in the town are the ruins of the old Romanesque church dedicated to St Thora, a drowned princess who’s body washed back to shore with a rock…

We went back to the first restaurant for dinner, well we just had to!

Thanks for the lovely linnet song
And for the lovely photos and news.
I’m loving your blog xxxxx
