Portugal 🇵🇹

Portugal loves its statues and tiles
Povoa de Vazim welcomes us with smiles
Half a Francesiña I tried
Chips and rice on the side
Keeps us going for miles and miles!

The wind has turned 180 degrees
So we tacked out then back in with ease
We’ll rest in Oporto
Eat fish like we ought-to
And wait for the perfect sea breeze

In Porto they drink lots of wine
And their grilled sardines are quite fine
Our ocean crew’s landed
So now we’re 4-handed
To sail off south west on the brine

In our orca deterrent we trust
Does it work? Well surely it must!
But the boat that they caught
Gave us pause for thought:
They were using the same kit as us!
The Madeira Suite

We left Porto at dawn in a swell
And some crew were not feeling too well
But if they malinger
We have biscuits of ginger
So they’ll soon be as sound as a bell

I’m suffering from deficiency of sleep
I’ve not had a wink – not a peep
And my head is quite sore
Oh God, is there much more?
I’m trying hard not to say bleep bleep bleep!

We’re storming along pinkly with Lily
La Bamba’s cruising like a sea filly
300 more miles
And we’re still wearing smiles
That’s David, Elly, Alex and Willy!

David’s spotted a dark oily speck
What is that we say, let’s go check
It’s 2 little squid
We don’t know what they did
But they’ve jumped right up onto our deck!

At 7.45 David shouts Land!
Eggs and bacon were shortly to hand
We’re sailing goose-wing
It’s a rock’n’roll thing
Our first shower is going to be grand!

Porto Santo has a hill like a horn
The sea’s turquoise and really quite warm
We ate very good meat
And caught up on sleep
But our crew’s gone so now we’re forlorn!
Canaries! (Part 1)

To Lanzarote we rode the white horses
In wild wind and wide ocean forces
It’s only us two
But we know what to do
And with Greta we have all resources
