Day 9, Donsö – No Wind!

Friday, 12 July

In the morning Sam went for a swim, David fixed things on the boat and Alex and I enjoyed a pleasant walk across the island to the ‘main town’ and ferry port and round the South of the island along a lovely woodland path in the nature reserve.

Nice rocks!

The island isn’t very big – this was the centre:

Summertime!

Today there is no wind. So instead of the frustration of motoring South we decided to visit the nearby island of Dronso (our second option yesterday) which took about half an hour. We saw a seal poking his head out on the way – no photo I’m afraid.

Approaching Donso
We are all rather jealous of the Swedish holiday homes

We rafted up to a German boat, Max II, and went for a swim. The water was definitely a bit warmer here, more protected and shallower among the islands, and much smaller jelly fish.

They have a good supermarket here and we stocked up on bbq coals and supplies as there is a fantastic bbq station just next to our jetty where all the yachties enjoy sizzling their dinner – you can either eat on the picnic tables provided or on your boat. We elected to have our first proper meal on La Bamba using the pop up table in the cockpit. Unfortunately we were too busy enjoying our meal to take any photos!

A relaxing day today in the warm sunshine, cooler days await.
