Laredo to Ensenada de la Rabia 43nm

Unfortunately Spain has decided to welcome our Scottish crew with some rather Northern weather – cloud cover, spitting rain and mists!
And not a lot of wind! Today what wind there is is coming from the opposite direction to yesterday, it’s an Easterly.
Fortunately there was eventually just enough wind to get Lily up which cheered us up a bit and it stopped raining.
Leaving Laredo we saw flotillas of Portuguese men of war – some very tiny.
No Orcas were seen, nor dolphins sadly and the boys optimistically put out the fishing tackle…
Ribadesella is the next viable port but it’s over 70nm away so we opted to stop a night in a bay at anchor.
The coast line here is so much more dramatic than France but it is a very grey day today.
We also had a visit from a drone – we waved – maybe we are in someone’s media post!
We anchored in what we are now calling Roly Bay as, despite trying to find the protected end of the bay, there was a lot of swell.
David and Will rigged up a drogue from the spinnaker pole to try to mitigate the rolling.
We enjoyed pasta from David on La Bamba Island (we didn’t catch any fish).
The anchor held well but we all had a bad night because of the swell.
Fortunately we awoke to brilliant sunshine!
