Day 22, Farvel Denmark, Gutentag Germany! 58nm

Gedser to Orth, 58nm

Billy from Quattordici

Last night we had a great meal and relax with our Quattordici friends Monique and Marc.

After we got bashed on the dock we were nervous going to dinner and leaving the boat, but Marc has a camera on his boat so we could see that a boat was coming close. David quickly ran back to encourage them to park away from us and we drank his health!

David is in the mobile!

However another much more responsible boat did park next to us, it seems La Bamba is irresistible.

They have an excellent microbrewery here

We invited our friends back; Marc had a look around

Bilges can be fascinating

Our Lazarette is a good size

3 big men and lots of other stuff
We aren’t going in

Next morning we set off in light winds (I was glad of this after the strong winds yesterday) and put up our sails. Our jib furler was stiff and wouldn’t unfurl so David had to twist it out. It seems there was some damage after all. David called our insurance company.

Looking for damage to the furler drum

Despite this we had a nice sail

However later, when the wind died, the jib furled in perfectly and we were very relieved.

So glad La Bamba is OK!

So we had a while motoring watching for cargo ships and ferries

They are quite big

David relaxed

Up in the boom again!
Marc got a good photo from Quattordici!
I relaxed too, enjoying the serenity
Billy was on lookout on Quattordici

The crew worked hard

We took down our Danish courtesy flag, and put up our German one

Goodbye Denmark!
Hello Germany!

The wind filled in again so we enjoyed a late afternoon sail (with a perfectly furling jib!) and arrived in Orth in time for flammekuchen.

Approaching Orth
A pretty harbour

Quattordici arrived before us and we moored alongside!
