Friday 29 May

We welcomed David’s cousin Andrew and family: Charlotte and daughters Poppy & Tiggy, onto La Bamba for a gentle Solent cruise.
The weather was mild with 7-10 knot winds and we decided to stay in the lovely flat Solent to give our novice sailors a calm experience.
We got Lily up and pushed against the tide towards Cowes.
David was glad of some company up on the boom

And there was dancing on the foredeck
Near Cowes we hardened up to beat back to Lymington, with the tide this time, and Poppy and Tiggy took turns on the helm – they were both exceptionally good, keeping La Bamba burbling happily through the water at up to 7 knots.

Dad wasn’t too bad either, concentrating properly so that he wasn’t outdone by his daughters..

Back on the dock it was time for a swim! Some made a rather enormous splash:

Others went in more elegantly

By dinner time some were a bit tired

Tiggy and Poppy stayed on the boat overnight and Tiggy has made a firm friend in Valentine.

The weather couldn’t have been kinder and we hope to have them back soon! Thank you for coming and being such keen and natural sailors!
Wow Mama, what a beautiful day on the water! It was lovely reading about Tiggy and Poppy confidently taking the helm and enjoying their sailing adventure. The calm weather, family moments, swimming, and new friendships made it sound like a perfect outing. I especially loved seeing how naturally the girls took to sailing. Thank you for sharing these wonderful memories, they brought a smile to my face. Wishing you many more sunny and joyful adventures aboard La Bamba ❤️⛵
