Today we stayed on our buoy in Studland Bay as it is so peaceful and beautiful here.

Tomorrow it will be exactly a year since we first set off from Sweden bringing La Bamba to her new home in England. It seems a very long time ago because La Bamba is such a big part of our lives now.

We sailed down to the Hamble to go on a RYA Safety at Sea course. Enough to make anyone stay a landlubber for life!

Happy Birthday to George! We are hoping he will join us in November to help us sail the ARC.

When the children were under 10 and we were young, we used to borrow David’s Dad’s Contessa 32 for family holidays in the Solent and beyond. ‘South Haze’ was a racer and never had more weight than she needed so the only cutlery on board was a tea spoon.

The wind is freshening today as we headed out of Lymington and took the tide and wind East along the Solent. Whizzing along!

Newtown Creek

Tuesday May 20

Newtown creek is a very sleepy little river on the Isle of Wight that we often sail past on our way to Cowes. Apparently it gets very busy in season and you can moor on a visitor buoy or anchor – in May on a Tuesday it’s very calm.
