Anchoring & Old Friends

Friday 23 & Saturday 24 May

The wind is freshening today as we headed out of Lymington and took the tide and wind East along the Solent. Whizzing along!

Newtown creek is a very sleepy little river on the Isle of Wight that we often sail past on our way to Cowes. Apparently it gets very busy in season and you can moor on a visitor buoy or anchor – in May on a Tuesday it’s very calm.

Pootling and Reef Checking

Monday 19 May

David spent the morning readjusting our steering which was a bit too tight. One of the things I love most about La Bamba is the lightness of the helm. Then he adjusted the windlass which was knocking a bit when the engine was on. We discovered these yesterday on our first sail so that was very useful.

Silver Solent

May 18, Sunday

Finally our first sail of the year! We were very glad to welcome new crew to dust off the cobwebs on a beautiful shimmering Solent sail on a perfect day.

Getting ready for action

Over winter we had La Bamba’s sails off, so we put them back on again and put all the reefing lines back in.

To Hamble for Boatshow prep

Tuesday, 27 August

Today we delivered La Bamba to Hamble marina for her to be polished up for the Southampton Boatshow (14-22 September).

Final Statistics

Well this is the end of our first journey. La Bamba has been cleaned and tidied and all her bedding is off to be laundered. We really enjoyed ourselves and are so looking forward to our next La Bamba adventure which I will post here. Thank you for sailing with us.
