Guernsey

Tuesday / Wednesday 15-16 July

After our storming sail the weather closed in – we had wind, rain, fog and more wind.

But luckily Penny’s friend Wendy, who lives on the island, was on hand with tips and even a car.

Monday 14 July

Penny had a fantastic first Channel crossing.

As we left Dartmouth at 8.30am, an incoming yacht shouted across, ‘Its windy out there!’- but we were prepared with our oilies on and David and I had our wellies on too.

Today was super sunny again and we were very happy to welcome my nephew Paul with Jemma and Elara and Jemma’s parents Colin and Helen who all came to visit La Bamba.

We got the 10am bridge and set South to clear Portland Bill, and a little bit further to clear the race.

It’s very hot as we get La Bamba ready this morning and we need to wait for the tide to turn – so we have time for a cool swim off the boat.

Today we stayed on our buoy in Studland Bay as it is so peaceful and beautiful here.

Tomorrow it will be exactly a year since we first set off from Sweden bringing La Bamba to her new home in England. It seems a very long time ago because La Bamba is such a big part of our lives now.
