The moon on the water was bright
As we crossed over to Spain in the night
Keeping Bilbao
Right on the prow-o
But the winds were a fraction too light

When leaving the huge port of Bilbao
An orca showed his fin by our prow
Was Jules delighted?
Well no one was frighted
As it’s left us alone – for now!
(It was actually a pilot whale, thankfully)

In Loredo the blue skies turned grey
As La Bamba got underway
Portuguese men of war
Are all that we saw
And we anchored in Roly-poly Bay!

Ribadesella is charming
The hills and the bay are so calming
No fish had we caught
So a great meal we bought
But our Spanish is pretty alarming

Approaching Gijon we flew Lily
On the helm was our capable Willy
Then they jumped off the wall
Such a fun way to fall
And the all female band wasn’t silly

We had lost both the wind and our crew
To Ribadeo we had nothing to do
But look at the shore
To the dolphins shout ‘more!’
And get under that bridge sighing ‘Phew!’

Viveiro has a bright lively crowd
Their bagpipes are beautifully loud
The dancing was fun
For both old and young
And we all cheered and clapped when they bowed

In Corunna we all saw the eclipse
As cava we both swigged and sipped
They jumped off the boom
Just as from my womb
Years ago Frances gladly slipped
(LOL!)

While sailing the Costa del Morte
La Bamba was so fast and sporty
We rested in Muxia
The food was deluxia
Then the wind got rather too forte

We were expecting a bit of a scare
With 27 knots off Finistère
The waves were quite high
But La Bamba was spry
And we rounded the cape with a flair

We left Pobra o Caramiñal
With not a hint of Atlantic swell
These Rias are pretty
But it’s a bit of a pity
That what the wind does you never can tell

In Combarro there’s sheds made of stone
But the wind, it has left us alone
So we went up the Ria
Anchored for dinner
Cos we know they’ll be no cyclone!

To Baiona the wind was a fail
And there’s fog – so no we can’t sail
The castle is tall
It’s called Montreal
And maybe we did see a whale!
